GoldenEye 1995 is the seventeenth spy action thriller Hollywood film in the James Bond series, and the first to star Pierce Brosnan as the fictional MI6 officer James Bond. The film was directed by Martin Campbell. In the film, Bond fights to prevent an ex-MI6 agent, gone rogue, from using a satellite against London to cause global financial meltdown.
In 1986, MI6 officers James Bond—agent 007—and his close friend Alec Trevelyan—agent 006—infiltrate an illicit Soviet chemical weapons facility in Arkhangelsk and plant explosives. Trevelyan is captured and shot by Colonel Arkady Ourumov, but Bond flees as the facility explodes.

When a powerful satellite system falls into the hands of Alec Trevelyan, AKA Agent 006 (Sean Bean), a former ally-turned-enemy, only James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) can save the world from an awesome space weapon that — in one short pulse — could destroy the earth! As Bond squares off against his former compatriot, he also battles Trevelyan’s stunning ally, Xenia Onatopp (Famke Janssen), an assassin who uses pleasure as her ultimate weapon.
